Our Sunday practice proved to be more productive than most, and we have officially finished the full band version of this new tune. On top of that, we videotaped ourselves rehearsing the song, so I threw together a little music video. It’s very dramatic. My hope was to make it feel like a movie trailer since I think it sounds like it could be used as the closing credits of a movie. Enjoy.

We’ve already begun to translate it into an official RtS song, and it’s already taken on a new form that is totally rad. Although this video has a very folk-y feel, the full band version is very dark and ominous…which in my mind equals great. Enjoy.

For those of you who read past the video and intro paragraph…I’ll fill you in on a secret. The overall mood and idea of the song was strangely inspired by Stephenie Meyer’s vampire Twilight saga. Yes, I am almost 29, and a man. But for whatever reason I found the dark themes of these books to be very compelling. Although the song isn’t necessarily about the books, I wrote this song while reading the first 3. That’s embarrassing. But true.
